Yoder Takes Home Women’s Track Athlete of the Week, While Brooks Is Named Male Athlete of the Meet

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Following a stellar performance by Baker men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams at the Heart of America Indoor Championships, Myah Yoder has been named women’s track athlete of the week and Kwan Brooks was named male athlete of the meet.

Yoder had a great week for the Wildcats, finishing first and two events and second in two events. Yoder took first place in the 60-meter dash and first place in the 4×400-meter relay, while also finishing second in the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash to earn Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. For her performances, she was also named Heart of America Women’s Athlete of the Meet.

Brooks was named the Heart of America Men’s Athlete of the Meet as he was able to continue a great season. Brooks finished first in the men’s long jump, second in the 60-meter dash, sixth in the 400-meter dash, and helped the team finish fourth in the 4×400-meter relay. Brook’s time of 6.90 in the 60-meter dash also reached the B Standard, while his jump of 7.28 meters in the long jump reached the A Standard.

Yoder and Brooks have each qualified to compete in the 2020 NAIA Indoor National Championships held in Brookings, South Dakota March 5-7.
