Kansas City, Mo. – The Wildcats closed out the weekend in a double header against Culver-Stockton College.
In game one, Hunter Gudde took the mound for Baker. Gudde would start out the game with back to back shutout innings before Culver-Stockton would score. C-SC would plate four runs in the top of the third inning putting the pressure on the Baker offense to find the scoreboard.
Gudde would exit after he tossed six complete innings, struck out four batter and allowed just the four runs. Despite collecting eight hits in the ball game, the Wildcat offense could not manufacture a run. Culver-Stockton would add one run in the top of the seventh before closing out BU in the bottom of the inning to take game one, 5-0.
In game two, Peyton Kahle got the ball for the Baker baseball team. Kahle would only allow five hits over three innings but the Culver-Stockton offense was able to mange four runs before Brandon Gomer entered in the fourth inning.
Gomer was lights out for the Wildcats as he would allow just one hit over four shut out innings. Giving Baker a chance to get back in the game, Martin Radosevic would launch a solo homerun in the bottom of the sixth to get the ‘Cats on the board. However, the homerun was the only run the Baker offense could produce as they dropped game two, 4-1.
The Wildcats have opened up Heart of America play with a 0-4 record and are now 5-12 overall. The ‘Cats will seek to get back into the win column as they will host (RV) Concorida University Tuesday, March 3rd at Sauder Field for a double header starting at 2:00 p.m.
