Warzone To Remain On Current MW Engine Following BOCW Integration

Warzone To Remain On Current MW Engine Following BOCW Integration

Many fans have been asking the question for months, and it seems that Activision’s Art Lead may have given us the answer.

Fans on the Resetera forum have been discussing the integration between Warzone and Black Ops Cold War over the past few days, and Activision’s Art Lead left a comment to finally answer one of the community’s most asked questions.

A Resetera forum post by the user ShutterMunster, Art Lead at Activision, replies to another post saying "There will not be an engine shift for WZ"

This news means that Warzone will remain on the engine used within Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This includes movement mechanics, visuals and vehicles. While many fans agree that Warzone and Modern Warfare’s engine has its flaws such as the infamous slide cancel, it is also the best so far in terms of visuals and sound.

What does this mean for Warzone?

One of the biggest features to be added in Modern Warfare was mounting. Mounting allows you to attack your weapon onto a flat surface such as a wall and increase its accuracy to that of a laser. This feature was not present in the Black Ops Cold War beta, and we don’t expect it to be in the full game either. If Warzone is to keep the same engine, we assume Mounting will remain in the game.

While we know that players will be able to use loadouts, operators and weapon blueprints from both Modern Warfare and Black Ops Cold War in Warzone, this only raises more questions. Will Black Ops Cold War’s perks be introduced to Warzone, and will Wild Cards be usable? We definitely don’t have a clear answer as of now, however, we expect to hear more soon.

One danger of this change is that it may split the community. Some players may never touch Black Ops Cold War because of this change and will stick to Warzone. The same can be said for fans of Black Ops Cold War’s engine, the drastic change in movement mechanics may stop them from going back and playing Warzone alongside this year’s game.

With only 12 days until the game’s release, we expect to hear more next week. But there is no doubt that the community will have a lot of questions for the developers when they reveal more.

Fortnite: Lachlan Pickaxe Frenzy Tournament Format, Prize Pool, Scoring System & More!

Lachlan and Epic Games will host a one-of-a-kind tournament to celebrate his Fortnite skin release.

Two days ago, Epic Games revealed that Australian Fortnite player and content creator Lachlan “Lachlan” Power would join the ICON Series alongside Tyler “Ninja” Blevins and Kathleen “Loserfruit” Belsten. He would be the third personality to receive his own item shop set, equipped with a skin, back bling, pickaxe and emote. Epic announced that the Lachlan’s Cosmic Set would hit the item shop on November 13, but Fortnite players could win the set in a mysterious “one-of-a-kind” tournament. After much speculation, the developers unveiled Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy, a genuinely unique Fortnite competition, unlike any before.

What is Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy?

Lachlan worked closely with Epic Games to produce a tournament where players can earn the Aussie’s Fortnite set before anyone else on November 8. The developers released a blog post detailing what to expect.

“Compete in Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy starting Saturday, November 8 for an opportunity to earn Lachlan’s Cosmetic Set before it hits the Item Shop. Winners will have the chance to display the Lachlan Outfit and Back Bling, pickaxe, and Emote in-game before anyone else.”

Now that we know what’s on the line for those who partake in Lachlan’s Pickaxe Frenzy let’s see what makes this tournament unique compared to others within competitive Fortnite.

“In this tournament, you and your two friends will need to find different ways to be resourceful to earn the Victory Royale. With only a pickaxe as your primary weapon, search for Rusty Cans, Impulse Grenades, Decoy Grenades and Supply Drops to protect your team and eliminate your opponents.”

Trios will have no actual weapons to use outside of their trusty harvesting tools. However, other options like Rusty Cans, Impulse Grenades, Decoy Grenades and Supply Drops will be available around the map to gain a bit of leverage on the field. Unfortunately, the competition grows even more challenging. There will be no healing items. Eliminating opponents and emoting is the only way to regenerate health and shield. Players cannot rely on their building prowess as much, seeing that they can only carry ten of each material.
